How we research charging information
We prefer primary sources: vehicle manuals and automaker support pages for model compatibility; SAE and charging-network documentation for connector standards; U.S. Department of Energy and Joint Office resources for infrastructure; public utility and government pages for rebates; and manufacturer installation or support documents for product-specific behavior. Secondary sources can help identify questions, but they do not replace the original specification.
Connector support, charging-network access, adapter approval, software behavior and incentive programs can change. Model year and sales region matter. Each guide should state its intended region, distinguish AC home charging from DC fast charging, identify the date-sensitive point, and link readers to the current primary source where practical.
Product content and commercial relationship
EVSloth is a merchant, so an article may link to products or categories sold on this site. A product link does not prove that an item is compatible with every vehicle, model year, charging network or electrical installation. Readers should compare the product specification with the vehicle manual, charging-network policy and local electrical requirements before ordering. We do not describe a product as personally tested unless the article clearly identifies the test method and evidence.
Electrical and charging safety
Our articles provide general educational information, not an electrical design, inspection or repair service. EV charging is a continuous high-current load. Circuit capacity, conductor size, receptacles, grounding, permits and protective devices must be evaluated for the specific site and jurisdiction. Installation or repeated electrical faults should be handled by a qualified, licensed electrician and the equipment or vehicle manufacturer.
Stop charging and seek professional help if there is smoke, a burning smell, scorching, melted plastic, exposed conductors, water intrusion into damaged equipment, a hot breaker or receptacle, repeated breaker/GFCI trips, or a persistent ground-fault warning. Do not bypass a protective device or use an unapproved adapter to make a connector fit.
Updates, incentives and corrections
We show a reviewed or verified date on topics with a high freshness burden.
